Town Manager Report for the week ending April 4, 2025
On Monday the Town’s new Registrar, Marcy Alves, started in the Board of Canvassers at the new Canvassing Office at the Town Hall Annex Building.
On Tuesday our first Coventry Finance Committee meeting was held at Town Hall to discuss the FY 26 budget along with particular questions around pension contributions, healthcare buyback rates, the status of our Town pension plans, and the use of Impact Fees for some capital needs.
Town staff had a productive meeting with the School administration around the upcoming budget and plans to address the school deficit with dedicated funding to begin to address the shortfall.
On Thursday there was a Council meeting that included a workshop with the Coventry Redevelopment Agency discussing the contract with GZA to put a plan together around creating public space around Flat River Reservoir and identifying the areas around the reservoir the Town currently owns and how to access them in the immediate along with the long-term plan. There was also discussion on other options like a boat ramp, a marina, or some other Town run operations. The big takeaway was that GZA will be asking for public input and have a dedicated website as to what the residents of Coventry would like to see for public access.
On Friday the culinary students from Coventry High School prepared their monthly breakfast for the community at the Coventry Resource Center.
On Saturday there will be a Shred It Event for Town residents from 800-1200 at the Town Annex Building parking lot where you can bring up to 2 boxes to be shredded free of charge. There is also a free Eco-Depot event at the Annex to drop off household hazardous waste. This is a state-wide event and an appointment is required. Please call 942-1430 ext. 3241.
Finally, there is an Easter Egg Hunt at the Town Hall Annex from 1200-130 sponsored by Parks and Recreation that will have food trucks, an egg hunt, and pictures with the Easter Bunny. Rain date is Sunday April 6.
