Town Manager's Weekly Report (3/14/25)

 

Town Manager Report for the week ending March 14, 2025

 

          On Tuesday we had one of our two monthly Council meetings which included the

           Appointment of our new Registrar Marcy Alves. We wish her the best of luck in

           the Canvassing Office.

 

           The Council also recognized Chief Frank Brown for his years of dedicated

           service to the residents of Coventry and wish him well as he continues his public

           service as one of our Town wide Councilpersons.

 

           Assistant Town Manager Maria Broadbent gave a presentation to the Council

           on the status of the new Coventry High School sewer line that is currently being

           designed and engineered.

 

           Town staff is preparing the FY 26 budget for review by the Council next week.

 

           Our insurance carrier the R.I. Interlocal Trust provided training for staff at the

           Crowne Plaza on Thursday related to the Family Medical Leave Act, Workers

           Compensation, and ADA.

 

On Thursday Lt. Governor Sabina Matos was at Human Services hosting her Resource Fair from 1000-1200.  There were 13 agencies present with resources for all town residents including Social Security, EOHHS, State DHS, Veterans Affairs, and other social services. It was a great opportunity for residents to get any of their questions answered and learn about what is available.

 

Moody’s, our rating agency, reinstated the Town’s bond rating to its previous A1 status which will now allow us to go out to bond for the $25m that the taxpayers voted on in 2023 for capital needs at our schools.

 

Town staff led by our HR Director had a meeting of the Town’s Safety Committee on Friday along with our Trust partners to assess workplace incidents and accidents and implement best practices to prevent injuries from occurring.
