Town Manager's Weekly Report (10/30/26)

Town Manager Report for the week ending October 30, 2026

The Parks and Recreation Halloween Spooktacular with Trunk O’ Treat held on Saturday October 17 from 600pm-800pm at the Town Hall Annex was a huge success. We want to thank Kim and her volunteers for all of their hard work along with the police department, the fire districts who participated, and all of the vendors, entertainment, and most importantly the children and their families for coming out. Please be safe tomorrow night for Halloween!!

Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a trip to New York City this holiday season on Saturday November 28. There are two options: A transportation only option is $100 for residents and $110 for non-residents. The other option is transportation and tickets to the Radio City Rockettes. This is $210 for residents and $225 for non-residents. Please reach out to Parks and Recreation for more information at 822-9107.

On Saturday December 5 Parks and Recreation will host its annual Winter Wonderland and Tree Lighting celebration at the Guy Lefebvre Community Center. From 1000am-500pm there will be craft vendors, food trucks, free pictures with Santa, and activities. The tree lighting will be from 530pm-630pm.

On Tuesday night we had a Council Meeting in which they approved the annual list of licenses throughout the Town. There were also 3 Class F licenses for special events that are upcoming. Saints John and Paul Parish is having a Fall Festival fundraiser at the school on November 14 from 100-400pm. The Knights of Columbus are having their Knight Out fundraiser at the Our Lady of Czestochowa Church/School gym on November 14 from 600-1000pm. Coventry Gardens at 1205 Tiogue Ave is hosting a Merry Market with local vendors, artisans, and small businesses on Saturdays on November 21, November 28, December 5, December 12, and December 19 from 400-700pm. Please come out to support these great community events.

Director Civetti also provided his financial report for FY 26 in which the Town finished with a $1.5m surplus and the School finished with a $2.6m surplus. We are finishing up our annual audit which will be completed by the 12/31 deadline. We also have a $21m rainy day fund in place which is approximately 15% of our annual budget as is recommended. He also advised we are trending positive for the 1st quarter of FY 27 and will continue to monitor all expenditures. The one concern is the federal reimbursement for the blizzard in February 2026 that was denied by Washington for all of R.I. That is a loss off approximately $300k.
