RIDEM OFFERING FREE TESTING OF PRIVATE WELLS FOR PFAS

RIDEM OFFERING FREE TESTING OF PRIVATE WELLS FOR PFAS

Testing conducted by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) has detected PFAS in residential wells on Provident Place and other streets in that area.  RIDEM is offering free testing to homeowners on the following streets:

•             Provident Place

•             Rock Hill Road

•             Windy Hill Lane

•             Hill Farm Road north of Rock Hill Road

•             Phillips Hill Road north of Whaley Hollow Road

•             Arabian Drive, Shippee Plat Road, Raccoon Run Road, or Shippee Cove Road

PFAS, also known as forever chemicals, have the potential to cause long-term health effects.  If you live on one of these streets, and your drinking water contains PFAS concentrations above the current Rhode Island Drinking Water Standard, RIDEM will coordinate the installation of a treatment system at no cost to you.

If you live on one of these streets or sections of streets, and have not already been in contact with RIDEM to schedule testing of your well for PFAS, please contact dem.ecsdc@dem.ri.gov
