Tiogue Lake in Coventry, RI will be chemically treated with a USEPA/MA registered aquatic herbicide targeting the control of invasive aquatic vegetation on Tuesday, July 13th, 2026. The lake will be closed to swimming, boating, and fishing until Wednesday, July 14th, 2026. Additional restrictions include a one-day restriction on livestock/domestic animal consumption, a three-day restriction on using pond water for drinking/cooking, and irrigation of turf/landscape ornamentals, and a five-day restriction on using pond water to irrigate food crops/production ornamentals/newly seeded turf. Temporary signs that warn of the applicable water use restrictions will be posted around the lake shoreline in advance of treatment. The work is being performed for the Town of Coventry and the Tiogue Lake Association, under contract with Water & Wetland and pursuant to the permits issued by local and state authorities in addition to the License to Apply Chemicals Permit from RI DEM.
