NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The Coventry Town Council will conduct a Public Hearing to consider proposed amendments to the Town of Coventry’s Code of Ordinances as follows:
NATURE OF PROPOSED AMENDMENT:
Chapter 15 – Article I - Conservation Commission
- § 15-2 Membership.
Updating from five members to seven members.
- § 15-3 Appointment and terms of members; vacancies.
Adding “engineering, town planning” to this section.
- § 15-5 Election and terms of officers.
Updating to remove “man” so it just says Chair.
- § 15-6 Meetings.
Updating to remove “three” and add “majority of a present” and add “never less than three”.
- § 15-9 Advisory role of Commission; purpose.
Adding the following to “A.” “the Planning Commission” and adding “B.”,“C.” & “D.”
DATE, TIME AND PLACE OF HEARING:
The Public Hearing will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. This Hearing will be convened in-person in the Council Chambers at Coventry Town Hall (1670 Flat River Road, Coventry, RI 02816) and will also be available for public participation telephonically and using Zoom video conference technology to allow timely and effective public access to deliberations of the Coventry Town Council.

AVAILABILITY OF INFORMATION:
A draft copy of the proposed Ordinance 2026-23 may be examined or copied at cost during regular business hours in the Office of the Town Clerk (Town Hall, 1670 Flat River Road, Coventry, Rhode Island 02816).
APPROVAL, AMENDMENT, ALTERATION:
The proposed Ordinance 2026-23 may be altered or amended prior to the close of the Public Hearing without further advertising, as a result of further study, or because of the views expressed at the Public Hearing, provided that any such alterations or amendments must be presented for comment in the course of the Public Hearing.
If approved, the amendment will take effect on September 22, 2026.
