Town Manager Report for the week ending May 22, 2026
On Tuesday we had our monthly call with the Pandemic Recovery Office on our Community Learning Center project. We reviewed where we are in the process and next steps. We are currently at 95% completion with a penciled in Ribbon Cutting with the Governor the week of June 22, 2026. We have engaged our community partners in Coventry, West Warwick, and throughout the state to provide an array of services and programs that meet the criteria of education, workforce development, and health monitoring for the next 5 years. We look forward to the official announcement in the coming weeks for all to see the transformation of 38,000 square feet of empty space into a vibrant community center for all residents to enjoy!!
On Tuesday night the Coventry Public Library along with its partners the Coventry Historic Preservation Commission, the Paine House (WRICHC), Nathanael Greene Homestead, and Parks and Recreation held its Coventry Student Art Contest entitled “Historical Coventry a Celebration in Art” in Council Chambers for grades K-12. Prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Congratulations to everyone!!
On Wednesday we had a grant webinar put on by the EPA regarding the reimbursement process for funds which we are currently a part of through the Coventry High School Sewer project. That project is funded by $3.25m from the EPA through Senator Reed’s Office. That line is currently under construction with the anticipated completion being in August.
On Friday I attended the Municipal Police Training Academy graduation held at CCRI in Lincoln. Coventry Police had 5 graduates complete the 22 weeks of training and will begin their FTO program next week. Congratulations to them and we thank them for their choice to serve the residents and business owners of Coventry.
