Town Manager Report for the week ending April 18, 2025
On Tuesday the Coventry Police Department and Coventry EMA took part in a MEDS-POD training at the high school for a simulated drill if there was a need to open for a dispensary scenario similar to what was done for Covid. The department utilized drone technology inside of the building to capture all of the required staging areas and identified areas that need additional attention.
We also had our monthly call with the state Pandemic Recovery Office to review our monthly mandates regarding the Coventry Community Center project at the Annex. At this point we have met all of the documentation requirements and will be starting the construction next week with the goal of project completion by the end of the year.
The Assistant Town Manager and I met with our contractor Fuss and O’Neill and representatives from the West Warwick Treatment Facility to discuss all of the applications and permits that are necessary to connect the new Coventry High School sewer line to West Warwick’s current infrastructure. With all of the design work finishing up this week we hope to move forward with the bidding process for the entire $4.5m project which is being paid for through a grant from EPA and the School Bond.
The Coventry Library took part in the Two Lights for Tomorrow campaign to commemorate the famous ride of Paul Revere on the night of April 18, 1775 to warn the colonists of the upcoming attack by the British. It provided the colonists vital time to prepare and defend themselves prior to the Battle of Lexington and Concord which signified the start of the Revolutionary War and our fight for independence from the British. The Library has placed 2 lanterns in the foyer of Town Hall as a remembrance.
There will be a Town Council meeting on Tuesday April 22 at 600pm in Council Chambers. Please visit the Town website at Coventryri.gov for more information and the list of topics on the agenda.
